Amana Mohammad- Occupational Therapist

Started at Helping Hands February 2019

Amana has a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Masters of Science degree in Occupational therapy from Governors State University.  She previously worked in inpatient/outpatient settings and at therapeutic and public schools. Amana has worked with a variety of diagnosis’s including: Autism, sensory processing disorder, upper extremity injuries, ADD/ ADHD, ODD; other mental health related disorders, down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, other neurological diagnoses, and global developmental delays. 

Her continuing education and trainings include: therapeutic listening, sensory integration, myofascial release, astronaut training, neuronet, infant-child hemiplegia, and neuroplasticity in children, etc.  Inspired by her mentors, Amana is passionate about the field of occupational therapy and the world of pediatrics. She believes in using purposeful play to help recapture one's childhood and its critical role in the development of motor, sensory, and emotional development.  Amana loves to spend her free time shopping online, watching documentaries, and painting. 

Amana is married and just started a family with a baby boy, Adam!
