Teletherapy

February 25, 2018

You've probably heard that we are offering Teletherapy, but you don't know what it is or how it can benefit your child.  Telemedicine has actually been in existence for almost 50 years, but over the past 10 years it has really grown in popularity.  Most hospitals offer this type of service where you can "Skype" with a physician, and your condition can be diagnosed and your symptoms treated without ever having to leave your home.  Teletherapy is similar to this type of service delivery model, and research has shown that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy, especially with speech and language services.

What is Teletherapy?

Teletherapy is providing therapy to your child via technology in the convenience of your home. A computer is needed, along with a webcam and an internet connection.  Your therapist will greet you in the virtual waiting room where your child's services can begin.  Your experienced therapist will share their expertise while providing tips, tricks, and techniques we currently use with our on-site clients.

Who can Teletherapy benefit?

Children who need support in language, speech, motor skill development, feeding, and/or social interaction skills.

Parents who want to take an active role in supporting their children using items from their homes.

Families who have limited insurance benefits or high deductibles.

Families who have time constraints that limit their availability to go to a therapy clinic.

Families who live in rural areas where access to quality pediatric therapy services is limited.

What are families saying about Teletherapy?

“Finally, my child can get the help they need since I don’t have health benefits for therapy.”

“I had no idea my 3 year-old would be so focused during his speech sessions.”

“I love that it occurs in the convenience of my home and I can be a part of my child’s sessions!”

“I love that there is an affordable option for my child to continue to receive services since we have maxed out our benefits for this year.”

"My child was having a feeding teletherapy session and he was having a good day.  I was able to go right to the refrigerator to pull out more food during his session.  In the clinic, I'm not able to do this."
