2017 Summer Group Therapy

Summer Group Therapy Dates:  June 12th - August 10th (Skip week of July 3rd)


Sound Off

Sound Off is a group designed for children 6-9 years of age working on the R, S, or L sound.  These sounds are the most common speech errors for this age group.  This group will not only work on the correct pronunciation of each sound, but will also teach children awareness of when these sounds are used incorrectly.  Parents will be provided with tips and tricks to ensure carryover in the home.

Days/Times:  Tuesdays 5:30 - 6:30

Listen & Learn

Listen & Learn is an auditory comprehension group designed for children 5-8 years of age.  The focus of this group is to improve auditory awareness (detect, locate, and attend to sounds), auditory discrimination (differentiate between sounds), auditory identification (attaching meaning to sounds and speech), and auditory comprehension (making sense of auditory information).

Days/Times:  Thursdays 5:30 - 6:30

Tools 2 talkIMG_4303

Tools 2 Talk is a phonological awareness group designed for children 4-6 years-old.  Some children use different processes, which impacts the listeners ability to understand what they are saying.  Common phonological processes include 1) deletion or reduction of sounds, 2) substitution of sounds, and 3) assimilation of sounds, which is where a sound influences another (for example took for cookie).

Days/Times:  Mondays 5:30 - 6:30

Speech Buddies

Speech Buddies is designed to enhance sound productions, follow directions, build vocabulary, and answer questions while strengthening social skills with peers.  Improvement of sound production will IMG_4284target sounds in isolation, words, and at the sentence level.  Weekly themes will be utilized to improve your child's vocabulary, ability to follow directions, and ask/answer questions pertaining to the topic at hand.  Social skills will be targeted, including turn taking and topic maintenance.  This group is designed for children 4-6 years old. 

Days/Times:Wednesdays 5:30 - 6:30


Interactions is a social skills group designed for children 8-12 years of age.  The focus of the group is to enhance speech, language, and social skills needed for conversational speech and functional life skills.  Aspects of the group will focus on initiating, maintaining, and closing topics of conversations.  Children will learn and demonstrate social cues such as non-verbal communication (referencing through eye contact, nodding, facial expression, etc.).

Days/Times: Mondays 4:30 - 5:30 (Girls);  Tuesdays 4:30 - 5:30 (Guys)


FitClub is a group designed for children 5-8 years old.  The focus of FitClub is to increase strength, endurance, flexibility and coordination.  Children are required to sit for longer periods of time.  In order to do this successfully, they must develop the necessary foundational skills.  In addition to foundational skills, this group will focus on development of age-appropriate gross motor skills.  This is a great group for those children who prefer sedentary activities, have core weakness, or have difficulty with acquiring gross motor skills as expected for their age.  This class is lead by a licensed therapist.

Dates & Times:  Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:30

Sensory Yogis

Sensory Yogis is a therapeutic yoga/self-regulation group designed for children 6-10 years of age. This class will introduce children to the basics of yoga postures, flow sequences, and breathing techniques through music, movement, and games.  Learning these skills will help equip your child to improve their independence with self-regulation throughout their day.

Dates & Times:  Thursdays 4:30 - 5:30

Please note that group registration is due by May 31st, 2017.  For those families paying privately for groups, full payment for the 8 weeks is due by June 8th in order to hold your spot.  Groups will max out at 4 participants, and therefore these groups are first-come first-serve.  Additional groups may be added depending upon interest.  Please note that missed sessions are non-refundable.  Please click Group Therapy Registration 2017 for the registration form.
